Launching event
Dutch cybersecurity company Redsocks B.V. officially launched its product and technology to the Japanese market on 16 July 2015. (1) The event included a ‘sold-out’ press conference, followed by an equally well-attended seminar. Both were hosted by the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Tokyo.

The occasion marked the first time Redsocks presented its cybersecurity solution, Malware Thread Defender (Redsocks MTD), to the Japanese media and ICT companies. (2) Redsocks is supported on the Japanese market by its distribution partner, Networld Corporation

‘No backdoors’ technology
The Redsocks MTD product is equipped with a function for realtime detection of outbound data traffic which is not intrusive. Redsocks thus assures that there are no – so-called – NSA backdoors.

Japanese media attended in significant numbers and paid special attention to this new function. By the time of writing already over 25 articles about Redsocks MTD had already been published through the Japanese language media. (3)

Support from RvO and Embassy
Redsocks had earlier joined the Dutch cybersecurity delegation to Japan on March 30- April 3 2015, organized by RvO and the Innovation Attachee network at the Royal Netherlands Embassy Tokyo. (4)

Using this opportunity, they successfully created contacts and found possibilities for new cybersecurity activities in Japan. The agreement with the Japanese partner Networld was
inked in The Netherlands shortly after, in May 2015, after which the launching press conference and seminar were successfully organized jointly in Tokyo, as mentioned here.

Follow-up in november 2015
A larger Dutch cybersecurity visit to Japan will be organized by RvO for 7-13 November 2015. (5) Aim is to build on the achievements like that of RedSocks and work towards new collaborations with Japan in the field of cybersecurity. For information please send an email to Kikuo Hayakawa.
