Successful Deeptech Delegation Japan to the Netherlands
Semiconductors, Quantum Technology and Photonics
18-22 March 2024

“I could experience firsthand what a strong and inspirational ecosystem the Netherlands has in the deeptech fields of semicon, quantum and photonics.” “The Japanese deeptech sectors can benefit from increased cooperation with the Netherlands.” “I could clearly see good academia-industry cooperation in the Netherlands, quite different than in Japan.” “I see many overlaps in focus areas between our two countries.” “I was impressed by the open innovation system and startup environment in the Netherlands.” “I got new leads for further business.” “We accelerated discussions with Dutch counterparts for educational programs.”

These are just a few random takeaways from the closing gathering at the end of the Japanese Deeptech Delegation that visited the Netherlands 18-22 March. In total 24 professionals from governments, companies, national research institutes and universities visited The Hague, Delft, Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Enschede. This gives a good basis for next steps in setting up a Dutch multi-annual public-private partnership (PPP) to further develop relations with Japan in Deeptech fields, in terms of policy, business, research and education. Various activities are foreseen, including the Osaka Expo in 2025!
