“MINERVA” EU-Japan Fellowship Programme

 The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation proposes a 6 months in-house fellowship scheme in Japan, designed to support its research and policy analysis of EU-Japan economic and industrial issues.

Deadline for Applications:

October 2014- March 2015 slot –> deadline to apply: 15 July 2014

Priority topics for 2014-2015

Special Topic:

  • Tokyo Olympics 2020 – Preliminary Business Opportunity Analysis for European companies

a. Current situation and perspectives on EU-Japan trade and industrial relations:

  • Japan market access issues, including public procurement  (in the context of the FTA/EPA negotiations)

b. Post-Fukushima business and industrial cooperation opportunities in Japan- focus on promising niche sectors and industries (e.g: disaster management services, clean energy, construction materials and technologies, smart cities etc.)

c. European SMEs’ internationalisation to Japan:

  • Obstacles and Opportunities for European SMEs in Japan (specific case studies/sectors)
  • Mapping of European SMEs active in Japan

d. Sectoral topics:

  • Sustainable Building and Construction Sector in Japan – Opportunities for European companies (key words: market analysis, regulatory aspects, trade and investment aspects including NTBs, energy efficiency, technological cooperation)
  • Japanese Biotech cluster and industry landscape – analysis of business opportunities
  • Japanese Space and GNSS industry –  business and investment potential for European companies
