Nederlandse cyberexperts trainen Japanse studenten in Tokio
This first Netherlands-Japan cybersecurity training program in Tokyo was announced on 22 July 2016. (1) The program is called “Deloitte Tohmatsu x the University of Tokyo SiSOC Cyber Security Training”. Its aim is to provide students of the University of Tokyo with an intensive three-day cybersecurity training course by highly-skilled trainers from Deloitte Netherlands. The Japanese sister-organization Deloitte Thomatsu Risk Services Co., Ltd., led by President Mitsuhiko Maruyama, is involved in this program. SiSOC is the cybersecurity initiative of the University of Tokyo, led by Prof. Osamu Sudo, which researches cybersecurity and provides students with cybersecurity masterclasses. (2) Deloitte Netherlands has caught the attention in Japan as a centre-of-excellence in cybersecurity, with its ethical hacker teams victorious at the Global Cyberlympics in the US for the past five years. (3) They were therefore asked to join the SiSOC project as expert-trainers for the hands-on (experience-based learning) program for Tokyo University students. The Netherlands Embassy in Tokyo worked as an enabler, bringing several Dutch centres-of-excellence to the attention of the leadership at University of Tokyo, who eventually decided to select Deloitte-NL, and working out the details with Deloitte’s Japanese cyber branch. At the end of the 3-day training, the two top-ranking students were awarded a study-trip to the Netherlands, where they will visit Deloitte Netherlands and other Dutch cybersecurity organizations (planned for March 2017). The both parties are planning to do the cybersecurity training again next year.
To strengthen collaboration with Japan on cybersecurity issues, Dutch public and private partners signed a consortium agreement with RvO in July 2016, PIB Cybersecurity. (4)
