On Sunday June 17, 2012, the Cross Debate Workshop on Regenerative Medicine and Stem cells between the Netherlands and Japan was held in Yokohama, Japan. The workshop was co-chaired by Prof. Hans Clevers, Hubrecht Institute, Utrecht and Prof. Hideyuki Okano, Keio University. The participants discussed about possible collaborations between the two countries in the near future.
The Cross Debate Workshop on Regenerative Medicine and Stem cells has been organized by the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMw) and the Netherlands Embassy in Tokyo, and it was held on June 17, 2012 at 12:00-18:40, in Pacifico Yokohama, Japan. The workshop was held closely link to the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR)’s 10th Annual Meeting in Pacifico Yokohama on June 13-16, 2012.
The workshop was joined by more than twenty of the top scientists and researchers from the Netherlands and Japan. The presentation and roundtable sessions on the workshop were co-chaired by Prof. Hans Clevers, Hubrecht Institute, Utrecht (President of KNAW) and Prof. Hideyuki Okano, Keio University School of Medicine. The Dutch speakers were Prof. Hans Clevers (Hubrecht Institute), Prof. Christine Mummery (Leiden University Medical Center), Prof. Niels Geijsen (Hubrecht Institute), Dr. Andries van der Meer (Twente University), Prof. Elaine Dzierzak (Erasmus MC ), Prof. Gerald de Haan (University of Groningen), Prof. Carlijn Bouten (Eindhoven University of Technology). The Japanese speakers were Dr. Katsuhisa Matsuura (Tokyo Women’s Medical University), Dr. Keiji Itaka (University of Tokyo), Dr. Keisuke Okita (Kyoto University), Prof. Norio Nakatsuji (Kyoto University), Prof. Mari Dezawa (Tohoku University), Prof. Hideyuki Okano (Keio University), and Prof. Hiromitsu Nakauchi (University of Tokyo) . The participants got together to learn world-leading on-going projects each other and cross debate to realize medical innovation by network of the Netherlands and Japan. And they discussed about possible collaborations between the two countries in the near future.
