Successful event on Quantum-Photonics-Nano, 11 October 2022

We successfully concluded the Netherlands-Japan Roadshow Quantum-Photonics-Nanotechnology on Tuesday 11 October 2022, 13:45-17:30 at Hotel Okura in Tokyo.

The power point slides are available if you send an e-mail to rob[@]hollandinnovation.jp.

The rapid digital transition requires radical high-tech solutions to keep the global social systems running in terms of security, sustainability, economy, health and others. Important parts of these solutions lie in the area of quantum technology, photonics and nanotechnology. The Netherlands and Japan are front runners, in terms of policy, contents and industry-academia collaboration.

The purpose of this Roadshow was to introduce the complex ecosystems in both countries and facilitate discussions for collaboration.

The event was opened by His Royal Highness Constantijn van Oranje, Special Envoy at Techleap.nl.

Updates were given on recent developments and ambitions of the Netherlands, by renowned speakers including Michiel Sweers Deputy Director-General for Enterprise & Innovation of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, Ewit Roos CEO PhotonDelta, Freeke Heijman Co-founder Director Ecosystem Development QuantumDeltaNL and Raoul Oostenbrink Coordinator Business Cluster Nano PIB-Japan. Both Photon Delta and Quantum Delta NL are seeing public spending of 450M resp 615M euro to further strengthen these ecosystems (National Growth Fund). Shunsuke Okada, Chair, Executive Committee, QSTAR (Executive Officer, Corporate Senior Vice President, Toshiba Corporation) gave a Complementary Speech.

All companies and institutes in the Delegation gave pitches and were available for table discussions (see below for total list).

From Japanese side there were presentations by Koji Yasui, Deputy Program Director of the national SIP program on Photonics and Quantum, Masahiro Kitagawa Program Director of the JST Moonshot Goal #6 (Realization of a foult-tolerant universal quantum computer) and Yuichi Nakamura of the Q-Star consortium (Toshiba and 24 other Japanese companies that are anticipating a quantum era) and others.

The event was closed by a Panel Discussion and a Networking event.

May 18 – Succesful Roadshow Netherlands Quantum Delta NL

Roadshow Netherlands Quantum Delta NL

On May 18, 9:00-12:00NL / 16:00-19:00JP we organized an online Roadshow Event introducing the Netherlands Quantum Delta NL (QDNL), with focus on quantum computers including hardware and software. During the event, we reached a massive audience, consisting of over 120 Japanese participants from governmental institutions, industry and knowledge institutes. The event proved to be a great first step regarding the physical Innovation Mission on Quantum-Photonics-Nano from the Netherlands to Japan in the week of 10 October 2022 (see here for more information, in Dutch).

Missed the event? Don’t worry, you are in luck! Click here to watch a recording of the roadshow. The required passcode = ewM5J0@h.

QDNL consists of five major quantum hubs and several universities and research centres, which are all connected. The hubs are collaborating on innovation by bringing together top-quality scientists, engineers, students and entrepreneurs, working together on the frontier of quantum technology.

Quantum Delta NL is kicking off three ambitious catalyst programmes (quantum computer, quantum internet, quantum sensors) designed to accelerate the process of introducing quantum technology to the market and to society. The aim is to provide easy access to quantum networks, computers and simulators, lowering the threshold to development and testing. The programmes have a cohesive function, bringing together the various technologies and action lines, various ecosystem actors, and the scientific and user communities.

In April 2021, Quantum Delta NL was awarded 615 Million Euro from the Netherlands National Growth Fund to accelerate quantum technology.

The event is part of a series of bilateral events, with the purpose to deepen mutual understanding of strengths and ambitions in the Netherlands and Japan in the fields of Quantum-Photonics-Nanotechnology. Both countries have ambitions to strengthen their relations in these fields. To address the crossovers, we invite professionals from these three areas to all the events. The series of events paves the way to a (hopefully) physical Innovation Mission 10-14 October 2022, to capitalize on the results and come to bilateral partnerships.
